Sam Gilmour
Sam is a lifelong art lover and practitioner, focusing on oil painting. Growing up in coastal Tamaki Makaurau, the beach was Sam's favourite place to be and inspires many themes within her paintings. The way water moves, nature, home and place are influences on her work. Last year Sam’s focus was on improving her technique, and learning about different oil painting processes. This year, Sam is focused on nurturing the creative process and creating, to form her first large body of work. As well as painting, Sam is a high school art teacher in Papatoetoe and is exploring printmaking.
