Ehetere Rua

Ehetere Rua (Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui, Cornwall) is an interdisciplinary artist using creativity as a means of connection, co-dreaming, communication, and becoming. Based on the outskirts of Tāmaki Makaurau, her practice cross-pollinates itself as an accomplished street dancer, colourful surrealist painter, and distinctive designer. In the realm of painting, her colourful surrealist compositions have been exhibited in creative spaces across Aotearoa and as part of creative community ensembles. Her most recent project is directing, designing, and dancing ENIGMA, a short dance film that won People’s Choice at the 2025 Aotearoa Street Dance Film Festival – signalling her emergence as a powerful storyteller.
