Luke Hollis

Presented by Art By The River Gallery, Luke Hollis is an Auckland-based New Zealand figurative and landscape artist, particularly known for finely observed portraiture and his distinctive use of soft, glowing light. Combining traditional technique with loose, painterly brushwork, his work moves between realism, landscape and more imaginative figurative subjects. A self-taught artist, Luke has painted professionally since 2004, with early sell-out exhibitions in Whakatāne and Tauranga. He was runner-up in the Molly Morpeth Canaday Art Award in 2004 and First Equal and People’s Choice winner in 2005. Luke’s paintings are held in private collections throughout New Zealand and internationally.
