Anna Nordström

Presented by Art By The River Gallery, Swedish-born artist Anna Nordström studied sculpture in Australia before continuing her fine arts education at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, an experience that shaped her interest in mixed media. Rather than traditional surfaces, Anna works with materials that carry traces of previous lives, including pressed metal, linoleum and pianola rolls, exploring memory, human activity and consciousness. She has exhibited widely in Australia and internationally. In 2019, Anna was invited to exhibit at the Florence Biennale, where she received a bronze medal for her mixed-media work. Anna moved to New Zealand in 2025 and now lives in Whanganui.
