A Glimpse into Amrit's Process NZ based artist, Amrit Kaur works across a range of mediums. Her practice investigates nature's often overlooked beauty and revolves around unpredictability and adventure where each piece goes on a journey of self-discovery. With no definitive end in mind, her pieces start out in nature, influenced by her surroundings, before getting resolved in the solitude of her Auckland studio. This is a nod to the complexities of life where we are influenced by what’s happening around us but, in the end, we return to ourselves to make sense of it all. Amrit is not interested in capturing the details but in highlighting the subtleness her of subject through design and elements. Kaur collects relics from nature, sketching and taking notes while outdoors and then embedding those onto her canvas back in her studio. Play and freedom are a big part of Amrit's work.
