Working in many media, but primarily in Wood, Bronze and Steel, Paul’s pieces often involve movement, which continually provides new perspectives that can reveal the hidden aspects or concepts of his work, which draw the astute viewer into deeper contemplation. A sensitivity to the flow of the water and weather developed in yacht racing, surfing, diving, windsurfing and kitesurfing has been refined by playing Tai Chi and Ba Gua which emphasise fluid movements, flowing technique and skill rather than brute strength giving a foundation that is reflected in a range of works with a strong connection to nature and the fluidity and duality of life. Having trained in Bronze Sculpture under Lyndon Smith and selling pieces to prominent New Zealand collectors, while participating in many premier Sculpture Events where his range of styles, subjects and techniques become apparent.
