Sadly Art in the Park cannot consider Dixon Park again as a venue for the Festival – as a result of the difficulties experienced running an event in pouring rain, the committee has made plans for the next and future events. ART IN THE PARK IS ON THE MOVE!!! After much deliberation and discussion of the various options available for an event of this size and complexity, the AITP Committee has made the decision to move to the historic park of SHANTYTOWN!!

This move offers so much potential and so many positives; to name just a few:

•   an ALL WEATHER VENUE;  
•   all Visual and Performing artists UNDER ONE ROOF;  
•   artists have car access right to the entrance of the event;
•  the Art Activity Tent and the Youth will have MORE SPACE;  
•  food vendors will be on DRY GROUND; 
•  wheel chair access;
•  many more tourists;
•  costs and work load will be reduced; 
•  a tour bus operator will run a shuttle 
•  and last but by no means least,  Shantytown has generously offered FREE ENTRANCE to public and tourists alike for the day! 

Art in the Park sees great things ahead for the Arts Festival in this venue – we are grateful to Shantytown Management for making this possible. Please note the date of the next exciting event – 7 March, 2009.  We will be calling on all artists soon to register their interest in exhibiting at Art
